Supervisory Course Outline


Introduction

This intensive supervisory skills program is specially customized for to meet the client’s training needs in upgrading its staff’s competencies to meet present and future corporate challenges. It is suitable for any supervisors, line leaders, executives and managers from any department who need to enhance their people management skills.

In every organisation, it is only effective people management, which can lead to purposeful, co-ordinated, and goal directed activity.  Ineffective people management could lead to high turnover and absenteeism, employee conflicts and disciplinary problems.  Ultimately, the organisation will have lower productivity and poor employees’ morale.  
Therefore, supervisors, line leaders and managers must be trained and must develop essential supervisory skills to enable them to deal with day-to-day problems and situations.  

Course Objective

The program will enable the participants to:
  • Acquire skills needed to direct, coach and motivate the workforce toward higher performance and productivity
  • Handle different types of employee problems in an effective manner
  • Identify roles and functions in preparing for greater responsibilities
  • Develop managers’ skills in communication and interpersonal relationships in building good boss-employee relationships and gain support from workforce.
  • Identify the dynamic and fast changing business environment and react accordingly toward changes and trends.

Course Methodology

This program employs adult learning techniques, which include active learning strategies to facilitate understanding and retention. Participants will spend 60% of the time in individual or group activities, which allow them to learn, develop and practice vital skills. The trainer will draw examples from the participants’ experience to simulate real life working situations. He uses a workbook to facilitate the program and will hand out additional notes where necessary.
